January 2009 - Notes from the Chairman, Mr. Geoff Brindle.
We begin 2009 on an optimistic note; we have increased our membership recently, we have a number of high-quality venues to display in this year and, we have negotiated the first exhibition at the new Ace Arts Centre, which due to open in June 2009.
Like many groups and societies we have an aging membership problem and all members should strive to attract new younger members who can continue with the group far into the future. We have lost committee members who devoted a huge amount of time to the Pendle Artists and we badly need members who are prepared to shoulder some of the organisational burden, no matter what! - every little helps.
It is increasingly difficult to arrange shows in suitable locations and there have been some quite serious misunderstandings recently, many arts organisers spending much of their time 'unavailable' Artists should be aware that when picking up artworks they should inform the gallery when they arrive to collect them, so that an official record can be maintained. Despite the fact that we wish the Society to be informal we must have certain rules which must be adhered to. Please remember that your hardworking committee are unpaid and, in many cases, unrecognized.
I would like to offer my best wishes for 2009, and I hope the group will pick up its past momentum and last far into a successful future.
Happy Creativity.

Newsletter December 2008
Festive greetings!
Some members exhibited at the Haworth Open, Trevor Lingard, Margaret Yardley, Colin Morgan and myself. It was an interesting varied good display. Next year it will be an open Open, no designated subject!
We have four overlapping exhibitions this spring. In February Alston Hall, then starting at the end of February for two weeks our usual Spring exhibition at Silverman Hall. The paintings from the Silverman Hall will then be divided between the Rainhall Centre and Gawthorpe Hall during April and May. The full details will be explained in the January newsletter.
Our first exhibition at Alston Hall College, Longridge lasts from Saturday 31st January to Sunday 1st March. We suggest you show older work because so many paintings are needed this spring. (There will not be a selection before hanging.)
Please fill in and return your forms by Monday January 19th, so that labels can be printed. There is space for over 55 paintings, and also miniatures and ceramics in locked cases.
Hanging is on Saturday 31st January at 2:00 pm.
If you have problems in delivering your work, please contact Peter Catlow - Geoff Brindle or myself.
Hope you have had a productive autumn, and I suggest you keep this new work for the final Silverman Hall exhibition.
